Trail Overview
Don’t let this trail’s short length fool you; it’s a rough, challenging route that demands genuine off-road capability. The surface is very rocky, with deep pits and uneven sections that slow progress even in dry conditions. The trail passes through a burned area, and the terrain can be particularly demanding in places. Four-wheel drive is essential, and you may need low range on some sections. A high-clearance vehicle with raised suspension is strongly recommended, as a standard sedan or stock vehicle without suitable clearance is likely to struggle. There are a couple of potential spots along the way where you could pull over and set up camp, provided camping is permitted. Conditions are likely to become considerably more difficult during the rainy season, when the rough, uneven surface could be even harder to negotiate. Take it slowly and be prepared for rocky obstacles throughout. ATVs, UTVs, Side-by-Sides, and Dirt Bikes must always have a valid California ATV Operating Permit sticker.
