Trail Overview
This extremely narrow, fine-dirt trail descends the hillside with ruts reaching 12–16 inches deep. Heavy overgrown vegetation makes pinstriping unavoidable, while tree branches create low overhead clearance of approximately 7–8 feet in some sections. Narrow standing trees, along with fallen and cut trees, require careful maneuvering throughout the route. The fine-dirt surface can become considerably more difficult when wet. The route travels along the cliffside through a scenic section of the Yosemite area, providing expansive views of the surrounding mountains and forest. The combination of dense forest and exposed mountainside views makes this a particularly scenic drive despite the tight terrain.
Difficulty
This trail is rated Level 3 because of the 12–16 inch ruts, extremely narrow terrain, unavoidable vegetation, 7–8 foot overhead clearance, and tight sections between fallen and cut trees. Careful maneuvering is required throughout the route.
