FS 1S53

This 1.5-mile point-to-point trail climbs over 275 feet from FS 1S45 to FS 1S02. The sand and pumice surface cuts through a pine forest with scattered brush, offering views of the Huntoon Mountains to the east as you climb. Mono Lake is directly north to northeast and peeks through the trees as you drive, providing glimpses of the massive body of water. The trail is mostly one to two vehicles wide, with a dispersed camp spot available in this area. Be cautious of some low-hanging branches throughout the route that could catch taller vehicles.
