Branching west off Forest Route 7N09, Forest Service Road 17EV501 is a quiet out-and-back spur winding through a lush, dense conifer canopy within the Stanislaus National Forest. Marker signage at the entrance designates this route specifically for four-wheel-drive vehicles and side-by-sides, with dirt bikes and quads prohibited. The trail follows a broad, gently rolling single-lane dirt track past an open forest gate and pockets of historical timber activity. Fallen timber along the path has been cut back wide, keeping the corridor open and easily passable. Because the route terminates at an unmaintained dead end and offers little in the way of established dispersed camping or formal recreation, it serves primarily as a short, shaded woodland drive through towering pines and firs.
