Trail Overview
Branching off Plumbago Road, FS 200-32B (Footes Crossing Spur B) is a brief, out-and-back trail probing into the Tahoe National Forest. The route immediately grabs a high ridgeline, carving a narrow, single-track dirt and rock path through a scenic, dense stand of towering mature conifers. With a difficulty rating of 2, this offshoot provides a quiet escape from the main road, primarily serving outdoor enthusiasts seeking a secluded place to set up camp. Around the half-mile mark, a cozy dispersed campsite sits nestled directly in the timber, offering enough room for two or three vehicles to comfortably circle up. The track continues a bit further before abruptly dead-ending at the 1.2-mile mark, completely choked off by heavy overgrowth and a barricade of downed logs.
Difficulty
Rated as a level 2, this spur road is generally straightforward but requires some minor line-picking over the embedded, rocky dirt surface. The track lacks extreme grades, deep washouts, or technical rock crawling, meaning most high-clearance vehicles can easily negotiate the route without issue. However, the corridor is distinctly narrow, so drivers should expect some light, unavoidable brush scraping along the vehicle sides. The most critical obstacle is the dead-end terminus: because the trail is blocked by impenetrable overgrowth and logs at the 1.2-mile mark, drivers are strongly advised to utilize the Y-intersection just prior to the blockage. This intersection provides the only reliable space to execute a safe turnaround before running out of road entirely.
