Trail Overview

Located in Santa Clarita, this moderately trafficked point to point trail offers some spectacular views. There are plenty of turnouts (some rather large) to stop and take pictures or just relax and enjoy the views. The posted signs state that camp fires are NOT allowed, but propane stoves are acceptable. The trail itself is mostly flat dirt or gravel, with sections that are deeply rutted. There are several obstacles along the trail that range from easy with light rutting and small hills that lead right back main trail (perfect for beginners) to moderate/hard with deep rutting, steep inclines and off camber sections. The main trail can be done in 2wd with high clearance. The obstacles will require 4wd, high clearance and possibly rear lockers.

Dry for most of trip. Rutted in some areas but easily avoidable. The small mud sections were fun. quite a few of them. Only one got pretty deep going half way thru so I’d test if not lifted. Nothing any 4x4 could handle.

Drizzle and some rain was on and off throughout day. A couple dirt bikes and two 4x4s. Other than that it was quiet and a nice quick trip out from city. Muddy slippery patches but nothing 4x4s can’t handle.

Great trail, beautiful views and close to LA. Took about 2-2.5 hours with a couple 5 minute stops. The trail is pretty beat up and is probably closer to a 3 to 4 rating due to some muddy and rutted out sections in the middle of the trail system.
