Trail Overview
This trail starts at Highway 22 and ends at the San Felipe Wash, beginning as a hard-packed sand trail that's one and a half vehicles wide. The vegetation consists of scattered creosote bushes dotting the landscape. There are a multitude of spur trails heading out in all directions, offering numerous exploration opportunities beyond the main route. You'll enjoy nice views of the surrounding mountains throughout. The trail features lots of washboards and whoops at the end that will shake things up as you approach San Felipe Wash. This trail is part of the Ocotillo Wells off road vehicular system, where registered OHV and legal highway vehicles are allowed.
Difficulty
This is an easy trail with good surface conditions on hard-packed sand for most of the route. The washboards and whoops at the end create a bumpy finish, but aren't technically difficult. The one-and-a-half vehicle width provides adequate room for navigation. The multitude of spur trails means you need to pay attention to stay on the main route if that's your goal.
