Trail Overview

Clear Creek - FS 18-014 is an out-and-back single track dirt road that branches off Bowman Lake Road in Tahoe National Forest. Pull offs with room for a single vehicle appear periodically along the way, including a spot around 0.3 miles that opens to filtered views across the hillside through the trees. A grassy, flat dispersed campsite with a fire ring sits around 1.1 miles in, with room for two to three vehicles. The trail continues on through dense forest, narrowing in stretches with some overgrown brush crowding the road's edges. It reaches a final small dispersed camp spot with a fire ring and space to turn around further along, making a natural stopping point before heading back out the way it came.

Difficulty

Rated a 2, this route stays manageable with only mild everyday obstacles factored in, no rock gardens or major elevation changes to contend with. What nudges it up from a 1 is the tight, single-track width in spots and some encroaching brush along sections of the road, which calls for a bit more attention than a wide-open trail would. Nothing here demands technical driving, just a steady pace and awareness of the narrower stretches.
