Trail Overview
A brief connector trail that seamlessly links the beautiful Bishop Tuff Scenic Loop directly to Highway 395. This incredibly mellow 0.6-mile dirt road offers a smooth, relaxing drive through a wide-open and beautifully clear landscape. As you traverse this peaceful route, you will be surrounded by scattered pine trees and dense, low-lying green sagebrush that lines the edges of the two-track path. While the trail itself is wonderfully straightforward and simple, the brush does grow quite close to the road borders, making the corridor slightly narrow in a few sections. The surrounding views are absolutely gorgeous, featuring open terrain that perfectly frames a stunning, clear overlook toward Highway 395 as you reach the end of the route. It is a delightfully clean, scenic transit segment that perfectly bridges the gap between the highway and the larger trail network.
Difficulty
We assign a very comfortable difficulty rating of 2 out of 10 for this easygoing, obstacle-free route. The driving surface is primarily composed of smooth, packed dirt mixed with a dusting of light sand that never gets deep enough to cause traction or sinking issues. There are absolutely no large rocks, deep ruts, or steep climbs to worry about, making it perfectly suited for standard everyday vehicles with basic ground clearance and all-wheel traction. To ensure a safe journey, simply maintain a slow, steady momentum and enjoy the scenery. The only minor hazard to keep in mind is the encroaching trailside brush; drivers of wider, full-size rigs should be slightly cautious and aware of their edges to avoid minor pinstriping along their paintwork.
