Trail Overview
This trail starts right near the Deer Creek staging area, behind a gate that gets closed for seasonal use. It starts off pretty easy, being a decently wide single track, weaving between tons of cut logs, with lots of loose rock. The grade is pretty gradual as it parallels a ravine and winds through the dry pine forest. There are a lot of dry and sun-exposed sections with sharp, bony, small rocks. Expect the trail to be very dusty. A lot of this trail is fun and flowy, on smooth dirt, weaving through the scrub oaks, with small dips into ravines, and fast straight sections. This trail accesses a lot of short spurs that are super close to the staging area. A lot of them had logs down, but they make several short loops, so you can do some exploring while close to camp. This trail is seasonally closed 12/16 – 4/14 to motorized use.
Difficulty
This is an easier single track due to the lack of major obstacles, but it does have a bit of loose rock on the west half of the trail. It’s mostly gradual and flowy, though. This is rated "Moderate" by the Forest Service.
