Trail Overview

The Twin Knobs Trail offers a scenic out-and-back route that showcases the natural beauty of the Ozarks. Starting as a well-maintained gravel road, the trail gradually transitions to a rock and clay-based surface as you travel from west to east. While the trail isn’t particularly technical, it provides a relaxed and enjoyable journey suitable for most vehicles, especially on drier days. One of the standout features of this trail is its convenient proximity to Siloam Springs and Springdale. The majority of the trail area has good cell reception, making it an excellent escape for those wanting to disconnect without venturing too far from urban areas. Timing your visit in the fall is highly recommended, as the trail traverses through the natural Arkansas foliage. Expect stunning displays of color and a variety of tree types that highlight the richness of Ozark scenery. There is a small section about three-quarters of the way from west to east where you’ll descend some modest rocks — roughly 8 inches in height. This section is fairly steep and could be challenging when returning east to west, especially if wet. The rocks can be bypassed if needed, making the trail accessible for less capable vehicles. In addition to its scenic pathway, the trail features a few primitive campsites, providing a nice, quiet spot to enjoy an overnight stay in the heart of the Ozarks. Overall, Twin Knobs Trail is a leisurely, picturesque route that offers a true taste of Arkansas’s natural beauty with minimal technical obstacles.

Very well maintained. The hiking trail was a bigger high light. 20min total time and that was going slow.

dirt road that takes about 20 minutes to go all the way down and back. Anyone can do this, in any vehicle except maybe a low rider. On x tends to exaggerate things. The only way this would take 1.5 hours is on foot.
