Trail Overview
This ATV trail at Moccasin Gap is a beautiful and adventurous ride, with several rocky challenges. The trail is often covered in flat, loose stone and winds through the trees with sharp curves and big hairpin turns. The trail surface has deep ruts filled in with rock, mud puddles, and a mix of small logs and sizable roots. Riders will encounter steeper climbing sections, shelfy traverses, and a notable moderate rock obstacle featuring a series of one-foot-tall diagonal ledges. Several areas have uneven piles of rock and roots that add to the technical challenge. It runs parallel to the beautiful Moccasin Creek at one point, and is especially scenic when it comes up to a waterfall right next to the trail - a perfect spot to rest and have lunch. This route is a highlight of visiting the Moccasin Gap Trail System.
Difficulty
This is one of the more difficult ATV trails in the area because it has a higher concentration of rock obstacles of moderate difficulty, including ledges, big ruts, and roots.
