Trail Overview
The Hickory Grove trail begins as a maintained gravel two-track, offering a pleasant drive through forested landscapes past private property and rural homesteads. The latter half transitions into a dusty, uneven, and winding route that, while not particularly challenging, requires careful navigation. Travelers should note that no direct path crosses the river beyond the dam wall, necessitating a backtrack to locate the alternate trail circumventing the dam. Dispersed camping opportunities exist along the route, but amenities such as trash disposal and water supply are unavailable, and cell service is limited throughout the area.
