Trail Overview

Wild Flower Pass moves east to west along the northern edge of the Mount Trumbull Wilderness. It's a seldom-used trail, which is great, and in the springtime, wildflowers in every color of the rainbow are abundant. This trail connects the Temple Trail (Southern Section) on the west end with Mount Trumbull Road on the east end. It's an easy trail, but there are a few places where erosion makes the trail a bit off-camber and washed out. In some places, it's hard to find the trail because it's seldom used. You travel along in the shadow of Mount Trumbull in a healthy pinion pines forest. You can easily make a day of it out here, combining a hike up Mount Trumbull (8008 feet), a ride to the Toroweap Overlook, or the Mount Trumbull Schoolhouse. If you want to go to Toroweap, there are requirements because it's a National Park, so be sure to look at the description of that featured trail for the info. This is a beautiful area of northern Arizona.

Previous reports stated the road had been washed out. It is now passable with some steep rocky areas but nothing a stock Jeep with air downed tires couldn't tackle. There is a gate shortly after you start when you come from the hwy 5 side and it's pretty much a climb the entire time. lots of cows at the starts make sure you close the gate back.
