Trail Overview

The Western Edge Camp Connector Trail is a scenic, moderately challenging 9.3-mile route that links the La Posa North BLM long-term visitor camping area to the southeast side of Quartzsite, Arizona. Perfect for offroaders looking for a quick desert escape or a connector trail, this route winds along the western foothills of the mountains, serving up a diverse mix of terrain. Offroaders will encounter silty flat-out straightaways, deep washouts, loose short hill climbs, and some off-camber sections. The northwestern end of the trail kicks off near the power lines along the Arizona Peace Trail Connector, making it highly accessible for those camping nearby. Because it starts inside a popular BLM long-term visitor area, drivers should maintain a 15-mph speed limit and keep dust down when passing near camps. Rated as a technical difficulty of 4, the trail is suitable for high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles, SxSs, and dirt bikes, though stock vehicles may struggle with some of the sharper rock obstacles and loose hill climbs. Elevation ranges from 912 feet to 1,435 feet, presenting mild climbs and descents as you navigate the desert washes and foothills. Drivers should stay alert for a particularly off-camber section that requires careful tire placement to avoid tipping, as well as several deep sandy washouts that can bog down vehicles without adequate momentum. Reliable cell service is available along most of the route with up to two bars of 5G, providing a helpful safety net. This unpaved desert route offers a fantastic way to explore the rugged Quartzsite landscape, transitioning seamlessly from flat valley washes to rocky mountain edges.
