Trail Overview

This is a short, but fun trail with an assortment of challenges to crawl through, most of which can be bypassed. The Waterfall section has a few different options, none of which should be attempted by vehicles without high clearance. Lockers aren't necessary, but helpful in a couple sections with steep grades. Lower gears are highly recommended. There are some side trails to explore. Smaller vehicles and ATVs are ideal for this trail, as it is pretty narrow. Larger vehicles will have no problem, but expect there to be scratches. If you care about your paint job, this trail is not recommended. State land recreational permit is required. This area has become more popular and there has been some trash scattered about in recent years. Be respectful to the habitat and avoid driving through unmarked areas and washes.

Difficulty

With a few exceptions, stock vehicles should not attempt this trail due to high clearance and steep grades in a couple spots that cannot be bypassed.

Easy trail that a mild vehicle can do. If you don’t want to do the waterfall there are easy bypasses. A stock vehicle can do this trail if you choose to bypass everything. Lots of alternative lines that you can play on to test your vehicle if you want to. Close to main roads and a nice casual drive. Narrow sections so prepare for AZ pinstripes.

Beware, someone has dug holes where this trail connects to the pavement on its north end where you cross the berm. One of the locals has used a backhoe to dig essentially tank traps between the berms, you cannot see them until you crest the berm, and once you drop in, they will high center you instantly. They are by passable, but they have been put where you cannot see them until its too late, especially in the dark, Use caution, they are 2+ feet deep.…

Fun desert trail amongst saguaro, ocotillo, chollas, boulders and sand. Trail has a lot of twists and turns which have you rubbing against the branches of the bushes as you wind through. My 2 door Bronco managed fine but a longer vehicle likely will come away with scratches. It is almost entirely sand except for the granite ledges of the waterfall. Need high clearance 4x4 to go up, over, or around the waterfall.
