Trail Overview

This is a route that tracks to the junction of a small island that is known as Stephens Point. It's a long-time gathering spot for family trips and a great location to relax in the trees and large brush away from others. While the water is dirty and murky most the year and it can have a fly issue from time to time, it does not smell swampy.

Difficulty

This is very easy with a few areas that would not be passable to a car or smaller SUV. There are larger potholes that can easily be navigated with a Jeep, pickup truck, or larger SUV.

This is described as a beginner's course and is rated easy but caveat emptor: you still need to pick solid approach lines as the washes and ruts have gotten worse over the last few weeks worth of late monsoon storms. I came south from Robbins Butte and it was a fun trail with a few challenges that do require careful lines and caution. If you are climbing in from the south, you will definitely need high clearance and should air down because of the sharp embedded rocks early on. Climbing up you will encounter loose boulders and deep ruts so high clearance and 4LO is essential for access, otherwise you might not make it up. I think this trail could normally be rated a 3 in difficulty, but the recent storms have deteriorated it to a 4. Still a whole lot of fun in my stock Crosstrek Wilderness.

super easy beginner trail. there are some shoot-offs that I have not gone over but plan to next time. pretty well service road couple washout spots but not bad. Good spot to take the dogs, quite a bit of open area with not much cactus

Mostly dusty hard pack with occasional sandy and washed out areas that require high clearance vehicle in 2WD.

We saw Bighorn sheeps while we are out which was awesome. Pretty basic trail but was nice to get out into the desert today.
