Trail Overview

SS1157 begins at the entrance to Ss1158a and follows a wide, smooth two-track through the desert. The trail surface is primarily sand and gravel, with tall desert creosote lining both sides. Most of the route is smooth and easy; there are several unexpected water-drainage transitions that can be much rougher than they appear. This is a great connector trail, but 4WD and high clearance are recommended. After rain, the route can develop significant mud holes and may become impassable as water reshapes the drainage crossings. There is one gate at the corral; leave it exactly as you found it. AT&T 5G service was available along the trail.
