Trail Overview

Schnebly Terraces Trail is a portion of Forest Road 153A and connects with Schnebly Hill Trail and Rock Garden Loop which are both guided trails. The Southern part of this trail is mainly a semi-rough dirt trail with the potential for several mud holes. As you travel North, this trail becomes more technical with large, uneven rock outcroppings all over the trail. These areas of rock outcroppings resemble large uneven rock stairs that require you to pick a good line to avoid bumps and scraps on your rig. There are also rock gardens sprinkled throughout the Northern sections as well. There are many rocks that have had undercarriages smash them judging by the scraps on the rock's surfaces. High clearance 4WD is required for this trail. The majority of this trail has amazing views of the Sedona area and Munds Mountain.

Started at the I-17 entrance. Beautiful camping all the way to the overlook. The bottom half is real rocky. It’s worth it for the scenery. It took about 2.5 hours with stops for video. If you are low, don’t go.

After quite a rocky entrance, this trail rewards with incredible views! The 2nd leg was a bit muddy closer to the loop but very manageable.

Coming off of the Schnebly Hill Rd., this trail is pretty rocky from the start. However, the view from this trail was what the CVB shows you to get you to come to Sedona. I was in a jeep Rubicon with light trail tires. This trail was a little tough being that I don't do this all the time and thought that a 4 out of 10 trail would be relatively easy. It would've been much easier with true trail tires. There was some concern with the light trail tires on some of the rocks. It began to rain and the trail became slick due to all of the rocks. There were also a couple of wash areas that I had to cross so there was some concern there. Definitely need higher clearance and I would suggest not taking this trail unless you have true trail tires on your jeep.
