Trail Overview

The Rosemont Trail offers a scenic route that primarily winds through dry washes, providing a mix of easygoing terrain and occasional challenges, this trail is well worth the effort. Several trailheads can be found along the way, though photography is not permitted near the Rosemont Farm. Target shooters are sometimes present along the route, adding to the rugged, remote feel of the area. There are a few good spots for camping, as well as spurs leading to additional offshoots for exploration. For most of the journey, the trail stays low in the valley before climbing up and over a hill toward the main road. Engaging low range is recommended for this section, as the ascent includes a few steep but manageable inclines. Near the summit, the trail narrows with off-camber turns, adding to the challenge before reaching the top, where sweeping mountain views make the effort worthwhile. Since the route crosses private land, it is essential to respect posted signs by reducing speed, minimizing noise, and keeping dust to a minimum. Expect light pinstriping from brush, making it a moderate challenge for off-roaders with 4WD. The trail offers a few dispersed campsites but lacks amenities such as trash disposal and water supply, and there is limited cell service.

Mostly gravel with a couple of portions steep rocky potions. Great views at top of foothills.

We did 231 Rosemont trail to access Box Canyon. However we recommend you go a little further down to get 62. The in app map took us up a narrow unimproved road that was too narrow and hairy in our big Grenadier. Maybe a smaller ATV could do it but it wasn’t our style. The scenery was fantastic and we saw only one other person.
