Trail Overview
The trail begins as a well-maintained road, but as soon as you turn off, away from the Copper World Inc., the terrain quickly changes to a rocky and winding path. The initial section is relatively straightforward, but the difficulty increases rapidly, with deep ruts, short steep climbs, and uneven surfaces posing a challenge even for well-equipped vehicles. At one point, the Land Rover had a wheel in the air due to the severity of the ruts, which would likely make the trail impassable for some four-wheel drives, particularly during the rainy season. Off-camber sections are frequent, making it a difficult route for larger overland rigs, especially those without locking differentials. The challenging conditions ultimately forced us to turn back, as the trail became too treacherous to continue without extensive road-building to create a passable route, and we had to build sections of the road to exit. The trail offers a few dispersed campsites but lacks amenities such as trash disposal and water supply, and there is limited cell service.
