Trail Overview
Rocky Road receives its name from the high volume of loose rocks throughout the trail. It is a 2-mile trail one way with the option of connecting to the Wilderness Edge trail for an easier ride out. The trail begins off of Oatman Highway (10) as an unassuming two-track, but soon enough the rocks will appear. Rock sizes vary up to a foot or two. What makes this trail more challenging is not only the rocks but also a few short tricky sections on the hills (climbs/descents). There are deep erosion ruts and off-camber moments to navigate. Due to how the trail is carved into the hillside, it almost seems as if it may have been a common road at one point, maybe for the past mining production in the area. The trail ends at a large rock outcrop that is good for turning around. There are a couple of offshoot trails noted at the end for further exploration if you wish. Again, there's the option to take an easier route back by taking the Wilderness Edge trail through the wash.
