Trail Overview

This OHV trail comes in right at 2.5 miles long and is a very rough and rocky road. The beginning of this trail starts when Dry Creek Road turns to dirt. You are met with a line of rocks which serves as a gatekeeper to deter lower-clearance vehicles from passing. If your vehicle scrapes or bumps this line of rocks, it's highly advised to turn around because you will encounter many more obstacles around the same height. Once you are past the gatekeeper, you will traverse through a mixture of sand, rock, and small ledges on the trail. You will have lots of other off-roaders and hikers on this trail until you pass the Devil's Bridge Trailhead. The trail turns to the left and is marked by a sign pointing the way to Van Deren Cabin. The trail turns to a sandy surface and leads to Dry Creek. Once you are at the creek crossing, there are two steep ledges that you must go down and up. Water may be present on this obstacle. After crossing the creek bed, the last 100 yards of this trail becomes very rough and rocky. There are two small hill climbs and descents with small ledges you must pass before you get to the parking area for Van Deren Cabin. A flat rock area marks the end of this trail and you are rewarded with an amazing view of the surrounding area. This is a great place to get out and take a short walk to Van Deren Cabin. This trail is only suited for 4x4s. It is highly recommended to have tires aired down before traveling this trail.

Rock ledge step offs. Some lose rocks and sandy spots. If you can't do the very last section near the cabin, you can park at the wash and walk up a hundred yards to get to the cabin.

Stock 2026 Rubicon with 33's. I am essentially a beginner to off-roading and this was a good trail for me to learn on. A few spots where picking the right lines matter and a good chance to use all the off road setting to see the pros and cons of each. The trail had a few other jeeps and hikers until devils bridge. After that it was pretty much just me. Pretty views.

Trail is rated 5/10 feels more like 3-4/10. Totally manageable in a stock Wrangler or Tacoma.

Fun out and back - went all the way to the cabin, the last section is the most technical.

Great trip on a almost stock Sahara. Just got slightly bigger tires and had a blast. End by cabin was a little scary as I’m new to off-roading in my daily driver but we made it without scraping

Great trail up to the cabin. Last part getting to the cabin is fun and more challenging. Rewarded with open space and big view looking at the moon rise. Unfortunately there is a neighborhood (or clubhouse ??) right behind the cabin, which is accessed from a completely different road. We could hear music from a DJ at an event. We just turned on our own music and it drowned it out. So, it didn’t feel as secluded as we had hoped, but still a very worthwhile trip for a moonlight supper on the trail!

Trail was good. There are a few areas that require a good ground clearance. Even a 2WD with good tires might be able to make it.

Trail was good. Just make sure to air down for a more comfortable drive. Just keep an eye out for hikers since it does get extremely busy. Be sure to get there early if you want to do the hike to devils bridge.

Not overly technical but still complex in parts. Plenty of room for people passing by. Lots of hikers, but great views and a lot of fun.
