Trail Overview

This 6.4-mile point-to-point trail takes you from Bill Gray Road along power lines up to the start of Casner Mountain Trail. For a power line road, this trail has very scenic views of the surrounding mountains and red rock. Ran this from north to south. First obstacle just a few minutes in was the toughest on the whole trail. A set of two 12” ledges. Lots of ups and downs and fairly rocky/bumpy the whole way. Only one hill was steep enough that I used my front camera because I couldn’t see over the hood. One great scenic spot to stop for a photo. Fun trail and would go again.

This trail is not Easy at all. The recent rains that fell in November and December have created major erosion through the early stages (south to North) and the rocks on the trail are large and strewn all over the place and it's hard to find a single line to follow. I started at the FS9525 split and went North. After the split to FS761A, this route got crazy. For some reason, I thought the rest of the trail Northward would be Easy...since the trail was rated Easy back then. The ups and down drops were riddled with all sizes of stones and boulders, and the rugged drops of slabs were a constant and very intense. I got to the last crossing of dry Coffee Creek, and I dumped the bike twice trying to maneuver up and around the walls of slab on the tight switchback section. I may not be an expert rider, but I'm pretty sure I earned some badges today!

It had just rained heavy for the couple days before and was very wet and slippery. There are a few fairly steep hill with loose rocks. Lockers suggested. Had a great time doing this trail.

We wanted more of an adventure going to Robbers Roost and decided that the Red Rock Powerline Road would fit the ticket. We hit the trail about 8am and were excited to see what the day would bring us. The trail was pretty easy at first without too many obstacles. It was really Subaru Wilderness worthy. The views on the trail changed from just a normal arizona desert to an epic view with red rocks. Just like in Sedona. After a while, the trail had a few more obstacles that made it more interesting - This is the only section I wouldn't take a Outback Wilderness on. It was nothing for the ZR2 though. Just bouncy. There were a few obstacles that needed proper tire placement, but nothing extreme.

I completed this in my stock wrangler. It was a little more difficult than I was expecting. 3-4 rocky hills, a lot of loose rocks. Two gates to open and close. I hit bottom once going up a path that made a sharp turn onto a very large rock. I had to use 4low and had no problem. I don’t know if I’d call this one easy. I would say higher end easy/lower moderate. Beautiful views

Somewhere on the edge of a hard 3/ easy 4. Could definitely see someone underestimating this trail and getting in trouble.

Agree with previous comment. This trail should be rated at least a moderate 4. Started from Bill Grey end in stock taco with 33" tires. Deep ruts encountered at the start. After that it was constant up and downs with loose rocks. Two unlocked gates to open and close. Then there's the shelf at the end of the trail. Doable but no way a stock 2wd would make it without great difficulty. I do agree about the scenery.

There is no universe where this trail is a “3”. It’s “4 moderate” at best. I started from the Robber’s Roost side… and yeah. I have stock 2024 4Runner TRD Pro - and I hit the skid plate and rock sliders in the first 5 minutes. There are parts of this trail - I wish I brought extra shorts for. VERY steep up and down with loose rocks and ledges (both up and down). If you’re up for a challenge - would highly recommend.

Abandoned BWM made for a tight squeeze at the bottom of one of the valleys but was still passable with a full size truck
