Trail Overview

North Mine Road is an out-and-back trail to the Anderson Mill. Along the main route, the road winds up and down the lower Wickenburg Mountains with amazing views. Once you descend into the wash, you will see historic remnants such as a natural spring and an old water pump as you drive under the water lines once used at the mill. There are several areas to park on the left-hand side of the wash near the mill. If you explore north of the mill, there is another natural spring along with the Underwood family gravesites.

Great trail for a newbie to off-roading (like us), or for anyone looking for an easy, scenic ride. The mines are king of cool, especially if you are in to antique machinery. The entire trail can easily be done in a stock 4x4. Main trail was fairly smooth, apparently maintained, with a few dips, small rocks and sandy washes. There are a number of unrated side trails with a rating of anywhere from a 3 to 5, if you do want something a bit more challenging. We did see 5 or 6 other vehicles on the road... mostly pickups and stock Jeeps, and a couple SxS hitting the main road to & from the side trails.

A bulldozer had recently been through, seemingly to smooth the way to the Luxury Gold Mine, so the main trail was much smoother than in the past. We noted that several previously challenging spots were now relatively flat. Still great scenery and interesting old ruins like Anderson Mill.

Really fun easy ride! There are some spots where sand is deep and a little sketchy in the washes, but overall really fun with some great views and the mine was really cool. There are lots of trails that branch off the main route, so we made a day of it and went on a few side quests. Watch out for side by sides in the washes and coming over the hills though, the road is really narrow in some spots and it’s hard to see around corners.

This is a really good and easy run out to Anderson Mill Via San Domingo wash. You'll see a ton of wildlife out this way and there are a plethora of Mines to explore. The wash is littered remnants of old miners cabins. the old Underwood Homestead it is just up the wash past the Anderson Mill site where Eddie wash begins.
