Trail Overview
Starting from the south end, this trail passes Norris Tank before continuing with scattered rocks that create a slightly bumpy ride. Occasional washouts can put you into mild off-camber positions, and there are a few tighter sections where trees crowd the road. The trail climbs slightly in the first 0.3 miles and travels through an area that appears to have been previously burned, so watch for downed trees and debris. A few secluded camp spots are dotted along the route.
Around the half-mile mark, the terrain becomes much rockier with many exposed rocks that make for a slow, bumpy section. After that, the road opens up again into smoother, easier dirt. The trail also passes through a large meadow that is great for wildlife viewing. We saw deer here, and the area is known for elk, turkey, and pronghorn as well.
Difficulty
This trail is rated 3/10 due to the rutted sections, rocky stretches, and occasional off-camber washouts. While generally manageable, drivers should be prepared for a mix of smooth and rough terrain and slow travel through rockier sections.
