Trail Overview

Scenic vistas, ponderosa pines, and optional hikes are featured on this trail through the pines and mountains south of Prescott, AZ. This trail has a unique choose-your-own-adventure feel, as the main obstacles are on the same slope. If you prefer to climb obstacles, run this trail from Walker Road to Senator Hwy, and if you prefer to descend obstacles, run this trail in reverse. As much of the trail is a shelf road, scenic views abound and lead you toward the top of Mount Union. When you reach the highest point of the trail, a moderately-steep 1.2-mile hike takes you to the lookout at the top. Cell service is intermittent on this trail, and several points traverse remote residential areas. Please respect the residents by driving slowly.

We did the portion between the Poland Rd. junction and Senator Hwy today. That section of the road was in good condition, and I would have felt comfortable in my Grand Cherokee. At least today, the road was not a "4". Less than 2 vehicles wide in spots. So, use caution because there was some traffic. Really scenic views! Maybe it's trickier heading north to Mount Union Overlook?

Nice views and pleasant ride. Be aware though this trail is rated too high as there is nothing challenging about it. Pretty much a road with a bit of exposed smooth rock which gives some washboarding. Definitely a green as high clearance 4x4 really isnt required with proper caution and speed.

I went on this trail expecting some large rocks. But nothing other then the dirt. Road looks like they have did some work on this road and it no longer and the rocks like in the picture. :(

Saw nothing but dust @ 8pm. Open trail with some steep climbs and heavy washboarding closer to walker road. Air down for a smoother ride.
