Trail Overview

This 4.3-mile out-and-back trail takes you up the lost cabin wash to an old coral area. This is a nice little side trip while traveling on the Portland Mine Traverse. The trail is easy and passable by any stock 4WD vehicle. Beautiful Canyon views and possibly see wild burros on this trail.

I drove this trail while exploring the Portland mine traverse, the beginning of the trail is washed out so it’s a little hard to find the entrance. From there to the end of the trail is wash sand with manageable rocks but expect to get a lot of pinstripes. The center patch of the trail is overgrown about 16” tall and the sides were thick enough to make my Jeep feel wide. At the end there’s a structure with a fence and some solar/security looking stuff. I changed the technical rating from 2 to 3 because of the overgrowth it’s not a harder trail it’s just scratchy.
