Trail Overview
Halfway Tank Road is a beautiful drive through the Ponderosa Pines and meadows of the Kaibab National Forest, just south of the Grand Canyon. On this trail, you'll find sporadic large pull-through primitive campsites with man-made rock fire rings. Please remember to check fire regulations in the area as this region is prone to long dry spells and large wildfires. On this drive, you'll find elk and cattle grazing in the meadows or resting in the shade of the trees. Interesting tree formations exist as evidence of a past wildfire that has scarred the area. No obstacles exist over 12" exist on this trail. This trail also crosses the Arizona Trail, a complete non-motorized path, stretching 800 diverse miles across Arizona from Mexico to Utah. It links deserts, mountains, canyons, forests, history, communities, and people. The Arizona Trail Association's mission is to protect, maintain, enhance, promote and sustain the Arizona Trail as a unique encounter with the land.
