Trail Overview

FS 628 is a point-to-point gravel road that connects directly to Highway 67, beginning just past the Jacob Lake Ranger Station. The trail starts as a wide, easy gravel route and passes a water tank on the right, followed by the Jacob Lake microwave tower. There are several dispersed campsites along the way, making it a convenient area to stop or set up camp. As you continue, the trail becomes more rutted and noticeably bumpier, especially closer to Highway 67. The route eventually brings you out onto Highway 67, which is seasonally closed during the winter months—something to keep in mind when planning your trip.
