Trail Overview

As you start Forest Road 618C, the first 3 miles are relatively easy-going with minor bumps and ruts. The trail then traverses onto a saddle and becomes much more rocky. As you traverse this short climb, you will encounter a few rocky sections requiring you to pick a good line. These mild technical rocky obstacles are on a small hill climb and could be difficult after precipitation. After traversing off the saddle, the dirt road will stay rocky and rutted. As you travel farther West, the rocky surface gives way to off-and-on dirt sections. The western section also consists of several erosion ruts accompanied by loose rocks. Forest Service Road 618C ends at a cattle guard with Forest Service signs stating the motorized route has ended.

Though this trail is rated Blue/easy, this ride has many washes from the recent rains...and I mean MANY. It makes for some fun whoops, but some of the erosion is pretty deep and if you're not on your game... Made for a much harder adventure than I was expecting. There are some off chutes that may appear to be the 618C but keep your eyes on the onX map as it clearly shows you the 618C at the intersection of the 9203's (J and H). At the Vista View hot spot (faux trail end), the trail continues down an aggressive downslope to the bottom of which I chose not to take due to the conditions. We just received a weeks' worth of rain a week ago, so this still had some slick mud spots. Should be dry in a couple days. There are route signposts that have been damaged so you can't tell which one you're on, but again...rely on onX map and you'll be fine.
