Trail Overview
FS 4218 starts at Fracas Canyon and is a point-to-point west along a wide, well-used gravel two-track through a beautiful forest of tall grasses, aspens, and pine trees. The trail is generally easy to follow but becomes increasingly bumpy about halfway through as it climbs over a couple of gentle hills. After wet weather, expect several deep mud holes, making 4WD and high clearance recommended. The forest scenery makes FS 4218 an excellent fall-color trail, with plenty of aspens mixed throughout the route. At the intersection with FS 4218F, the original route should continue by turning right. However, that branch is no longer passable and has become completely overgrown with full-size trees, allowing the forest to reclaim the old track.
