Trail Overview
There are no obstacles on FR400 and no cell service as well. FR400 is a one-lane dirt and gravel trail with plenty of places to pass. Because of the surrounding dense forest of aspen and ponderosa pine trees, water runoff has caused some erosion on this trail. There are beautiful meadows that the trail meanders through that could provide camp or picnic spots. While there are no obstacles, it would be wise to carry a large handsaw or chainsaw in case you encounter a downed tree blocking the trail. Remember to stay on established routes and follow the Tread Lightly principles when dealing with obstructions. Also, due to the strong monsoon storms that regularly pass through this area, remember that not all hazards are on the ground, as some broken and dead trees have yet to fall and could be looming overhead.
Difficulty
This is an unmaintained trail that is surrounded by dense forest. During monsoon season, downed trees, erosion ,and runoff may cause this trail to be more challenging. Caution is urged.
