Trail Overview
This trail is just under 3.5 miles and climbs over 300 feet through a deep sand wash that's 1 to 1.5 vehicles wide. The route weaves its way through a dense forest of brush and has been rerouted over time due to changes in the vegetation within the wash. The surface is deep soft sand requiring 4WD and good tires to maintain momentum. While relatively smooth and flat overall, there are some off-camber sections that demand attention. The trail gets very narrow at times as it squeezes through the brush and passes by mud walls along the way. At mile 3 coming from the north, you come out of the wash, and the trail transitions to hard pack sand with nice views of the Trigo Mountains opening up before you. This is a heavily used trail.
Difficulty
The deep soft sand is the main challenge here, requiring 4WD, good tires, and proper momentum management. Airing down is highly recommended. The narrow sections through dense brush require careful navigation, and the off-camber sections demand respect. The changing route due to vegetation shifts means the exact path may vary from previous tracks.
