Trail Overview

This trail is not maintained in the winter. It gets extremely rutted and muddy when wet. There are rock and off-camber areas, it is also a tight trail, and pinstripes will happen. There are various camping spots along the trail. High clearance 4x4 required. If you go a little bit past the end of the trail, you will find a cool tunnel. However, there is no way to turn around after the tunnel if you have a long vehicle.

Started the trail off of copper basin road. You go right into a descent and it could be a little intimidating at first because it gets a little flexy from the ruts of water running down it when it rains. For the most part the trail is good with some small rocky sections but, it's the small type of embedded rocks. There's no rock crawling just the small!/medium pesky rocks that can make it a bumpy ride in some sections. I mean I didn't even bother airing down. Heck near the end of the trail was a mini van that was camping. They must have entered via 89A. It's a fun short trail that adds a little flex and fun. I probably wouldn't take full size crew cab truck unless you don't mind pinstriping. I have a 96 jeep grand Cherokee. I don't think you really need 4wd to do this trail. Atleast going from copper basin to 89A.

Started from the 89 end. Decent road with a few washouts for the first half. The last grade up to Copper basin Rd was the most “technical”. There are a few washouts as well as a couple large boulders to navigate. Overall, fairly easy for my 73 F100 4x4 with 31 inch tires and a limited slip.

Trail was good with no obstruction. Start of trail from Copper Basin Road seemed a bit steep but then it evened out. Got out of trail at 89A
