Trail Overview

This point-to-point trail takes you from Red Rock Loop Road to Highway 89A. If you veer south halfway down the trail, you'll reach the trailhead for the Oak Creek Trail. This is a short 0.5-mile hike down to Oak Creek and the ruins of an old stone cabin homestead. There is one short section that gives this trail its rating and name: it is a narrow, rocky shelf road that can be intimidating to some drivers. Watch for hikers and horseback riders along the trail.

Nice trail. It is rocky with some loose rocks. There are a couple spots that have some short 12”-18” shelfs. Did it in my Bronco with 35” tires. I did engage my rear locks once. There was no one on the trail, but did see two vehicles parked. I would do it again.

Great vistas we were riding with a group of eight side by sides the trail was smooth in some spots and little technical in others. Most people with a little experience should have no issues. I would not take small SUV's on this trail. anything lifted or set up for off road will be fine.

A few spots are better in 4W low. In the late afternoon (depending on your direction of travel- facing west can blind you) the sun can obliterate seeing any & everything like the edge of the road obstacles, etc… you can literally be driving blind

One group of 4 vehicles coming the other way was all we saw. No mud but the rain we had a couple of days ago kept the dust down. Nice trail but doesn't have the spectacular views that you get on some of the other trails around here
