Trail Overview

This point-to-point trail takes you from Red Rock Loop Road to Highway 89A. If you veer south halfway down the trail, you'll reach the trailhead for the Oak Creek Trail. This is a short 0.5-mile hike down to Oak Creek and the ruins of an old stone cabin homestead. There is one short section that gives this trail its rating and name: it is a narrow, rocky shelf road that can be intimidating to some drivers. Watch for hikers and horseback riders along the trail.

Difficulty

The majority of this trail is rated a 2. There is a section which gives this trail its name: a steep descent/ascent with large rocks up to 18 inches in height that is on a shelf road.
