Choose An Adventure Mine to Powerlines

This is a loop trail out to a multi-tier mine. The trail enters and exits from the Katherine Mine Trail. Getting out to the mine, the trail is a sandy wash that crosses other sandy washes. Once at the mine, it is a choose-your-own-adventure to explore the mine. A couple of fingers of the trail drive up to different spots to park at different levels of the mine. One finger goes all the way to the top;however, a washout prevents regular-size vehicles from safely navigating it. Leaving the mine, the trail loops out into the desert and picks up along a line of telephone poles. This section is fun for smaller and shorter wheelbase vehicles, as the trail is more of a little roller coaster with short and steep ups and downs. It crosses lots of little washouts and is an adventure to navigate. This area is BLM land;it borders the Lake Mead Recreation Area. Within the Lake Mead Recreation Area, federal regulations prohibit motor vehicles except on park roads and parking areas. There are a few campsites as well with fire rings. There is 5G cell service at most of these camping areas. Pack in and pack out all trash. This area can also get extremely hot in the summer months. Bring extra water and supplies if traveling during the summer.
