Trail Overview

Trail 28057 begins off 28002, starting as a narrow, bumpy road with nothing too technical—just enough to keep it interesting—until you reach the main feature: the drop-off. About 0.25 miles in, you’ll encounter a double wall descent. The first section is steep but short, immediately followed by a sharp 90° left turn that sets you up for the second obstacle, a steep staircase-style wall that requires careful navigation. Once you’re down, the trail loops left and continues over a series of smaller step-downs. These aren’t overly technical but still demand attention. You’ll then enter a wash and cross through a rock garden area. Along the way, you’ll pass the entrance to a narrow slot canyon—too tight for vehicles but definitely worth hopping out to explore on foot. After crossing the wash, the trail turns left onto a shelf road carved into the canyon wall. This section has a wall on one side and a sheer drop-off on the other—tight, exposed, and not recommended for full-size trucks. It can become impassable in bad weather. From there, continue through the shelf section, then take the right at the Y as you exit the shelf road and follow the trail up through open desert terrain. The route ends at the intersection of 28061 and 28060. Moderate with technical features has a double-wall drop, staircase descent, shelf road. Turnaround Available at the top of the main wall, not passable when wet
