Trail Overview

Artesia Road is a major connector route with a well-graded gravel surface that’s easily traveled in 2WD or 4WD. The road is wide enough for two vehicles to pass and has gravel berms along the edges. It connects Tanque Road with the Ss1061a, Ss1063, and the Highway 191 trail system. The route is lined with desert creosote, large cholla cactus, and yuccas, with expansive views of Mount Graham and the surrounding mountains. Camping is available in the area, and you’ll encounter several cattle guards. Watch for livestock and oncoming traffic. This is a heavily traveled road.
