Trail Overview

This 10-mile out-and-back trail takes you into the Warm Spring Wilderness Area to Alkali Spring. This is one of only two roads that goes into this portion of the Black Mountains. The trail is single-vehicle width and a portion follows along a wash. There are sections with rocks up to 12 inches in height to be negotiated. This trail is surrounded by a wilderness area so remain on the existing trail. This trail does follow up a wash and can flash flood during a heavy rain event.

There are a few sections with rocks up to 12 inches in height to be negotiated along this trail. Most of the trail is rated 2 with loose rocks and sandy washes.

1st half is easy but high clearance recommended. 2nd half runs along a wash with 2 or 3 rocky spots that high clearance is required. The spring was not running but the whole area is occupied by wild burros who will not stick around like the Oatman burros. Very cool drive. Couple of camp spots nearer to the Oatman Hwy. 2 camp spots that a small rv can get to but pretty rocky. A couple of good tent spots further along the road.
