Trail Overview

The A6 to A10 trail is a 13.3-mile point-to-point trail is part of the El Camino Del Diablo trail. This portion of the trail is a single-vehicle trail with heavy washboarding. This is Federal Military land, do not travel off of the approved trails. To obtain permits go to https://bmgr.recaccess.com. The permits are free and easy to apply for. After receiving the permits you must check in and check out of each range block you pass through. A range map is provided in the photos section.

Heavy washboarding along the trail and erosion damage under 12" in depth.

History

Barry M Goldwater Range is open to the public for multiple activities to include off-roading. A permit is required for use and can be applied for at https://bmgr.recaccess.com, the permit is free. Once the user has received approval for a permit they must ensure to check in for the various blocks with in the range to be used. Ranges will sometimes be closed if Military units are actively training within the range block.

Washboardy, but otherwise easy. Easy going, so keep up the speed and it'll be just fine - washboards are from soft sand, so not too terrible. Nice camping on some of the sandy off-shoots.

This was on the exit from our east to west run of the Del Diablo. Insanely washboarded with whoops. Side by sides have destroyed this part of the trail. Avoid this altogether if you’re doing the Diablo and start from Wellton. You could backtrack some to catch the last immensely beautiful canyon/valley spilling out to the Yuma range, but turn around before you emerge into the flat desert area of A6 to headback to the east on the Diablo.

Long trek down this trail, not a lot of places to stop and stretch your legs in the military range part. There’s some cool sites to check out along the way.
