86 Road to Closed Gate

This short 2-mile trail goes from the junction of FS Road 86 and Pine Flats Road to the end of FS Road 86, which is blocked by a locked gate on private property. The trail starts wider at the bottom elevation and turns into a narrow shelf road while climbing elevation. There are very nice campgrounds along the lower elevation part of this trail. The route also provides access to the Crystal Springs hiking trail. There are a few rocky sections along this trail but nothing too technical. Once higher in elevation, there are no places to turn around until you get to the locked gate. Beware of a few sharp turns on the narrow part of this route. Snow and mud make this trail much more technical when ascending/descending.
