175 - Hotshock Blast

Hotshock Blast is aptly named for its near constant bounding and recoiling due to the erosion and rocky terrain. The start of this trail is in open grassland and pasture that is mostly mud ruts peppered with offset erosion. Once you make your way up into the dense Juniper Forest, you'll be treated with the same erosion, just larger and more frequent. It's here where the mud becomes dense rock, the trees become tight, and paint damage is imminent. Wash crossings with steep entrances and exits abound in the trees, lined with river rock and small boulders that make this trail a great one for warming up the shocks. While there are no obstacles over 12" on this trail, there are a few technical sections that make this trail interesting to say the least. Evidence of Javelina, Elk, and Deer are present, as well as jackrabbits and other smaller mammals.
