Trail Overview
Snake Ridge Road is mostly a dirt road with gravel or large rip rap. It is the only offshoot road on West Fork Ohmer Creek Road, which you can get to by turning right onto Woodpecker Road from 7, then right again on West Fork Ohmer Creek Road, and about halfway up the road, take a right onto Snake Ridge. The road is very scenic and is a narrow road with areas of drop-offs. Snake Ridge ends at the top of a hill. Right before the end of the road, which is a varying size of loose rock, is covered over by vegetation, which makes the last bit of road very slippery when wet. Small turn around area at the end or spot to park and camp with a fire pit. Lots of wildlife on this road and scenic views. Toward the end of the road, there is a section to the right that used to be a road that has since overgrown. This trail has Muskeg/wetlands, and treed areas. There is a lot of wildlife in this area. Be safety minded as there are Brown Bear, Black Bear, Deer, and Porcupines in this area. Driving on the road, you can see obvious signs of bears, Deer, and Porcupines. Weather plays a part in the level of difficulty as this is in a rainforest and a lot of these roads are going through areas of muskeg/wetlands. There are sections of loose rock and parts of the road have drop offs where there is a gain in elevation towards the end. There are great views of muskeg/wetlands and the valley at the top of the trail on a clear day. Tall grass, ferns, a variety of trees, devils club, lichens, moss and flowers can be seen along the road. Snake Ridge, which is a very scenic drive with wildlife.Views: Scenic landscapes of the muskeg along the road and at the end of the road when there isn't fog. There is 1 dry camping spot at the end of this road with a fire pit. There isn't much room for a turnaround at the end and it is not advisable to bring trailers on this road due to narrow roads with a good turn around area. Warnings: Keep on the road (Muskeg and wetlands) and drop off areas. Watch for signs of road deterioration or washouts due to heavy rainfall. Be mindful of wildlife, especially Bears. No cell service noted. Check weather conditions and be prepared for rain, fog with low visibility, and lower temperatures. It is a rainforest. Suggested best time of year: June - October. Note: This road is a down and back.
