Trail Overview

Mineral Creek starts at the far northwest corner of the town of Valdez and is an old mine trail now most commonly used by Valdez offroad tour groups. This trail suffers from frequent landslides due to the melting permafrost and constant rain, so the length and access during the summer months will vary. Mostly gravel, the trail itself is easy for the first two miles before getting rocky with large washouts and the potential for 1 to 2-foot ledges and drops.

Difficulty

The trail is mostly gravel and easy for the first two miles. Past that, the trail is ever-changing due to landslides and the melting permafrost that can cause ledges up to 2 feet deep and potential washouts.
