Trail Overview

Belanger Pass is a great starting point to access the Eureka trail network. The entrance can be found just after Gunsight Lodge and quickly climbs into the mountains along the hillside before cresting over the mountain at 4300 feet and dropping you down into the backside, but not before giving you amazing views of the Glenn Highway valley. The trail ends at the intersection of Lower and Upper Alfred Creek, but not before going through a few water crossings that have taken over the trail.

The trail is unmaintained with switchbacks and more than a dozen water crossings that have the potential to be up to a foot deep depending on rainfall.

Trail conditions were excellent. Only a few puddles deeper than a foot - so much fun splashing! Rocky creek bed was bumpy but super fun. Beautiful fall colors and stunning view from the top by the picnic tables - perfect place for some hot noodles and a peaceful break. Rode up to Alfred Creek then came back. Only saw one side-by-side and one dude in a truck, otherwise it was just us. 10/10 experience, will definitely go again! Don’t forget you can park before the gunsight lodge and ride alongside the road past the lodge to the trailhead. Enjoy!
