Trail Overview
This off-road trail traverses a rugged and scenic stretch of terrain, connecting two roads that run from Highway 1 to El Arco. The route begins as a moderately used two-track, offering an easy start from the north, but quickly narrows, making it a challenge for full-sized vehicles due to dense cactus vegetation that may leave your rig with some inevitable scratches. Along the way, you'll cross a dry riverbed that serves as an excellent camping area for large groups, providing a welcome break in this otherwise demanding journey. As you progress toward the southern section, the trail transitions to deeper sand, with faint paths that cross and descend into arroyos, where some drivers may find themselves creating alternate routes to navigate out. Properly aired-down tires, four-wheel drive, and experience with soft sand are essential for a successful passage. The trail concludes at a well-maintained road, offering a choice to head right toward Highway 1 or left toward El Arco and the backdoor route to Bahia de los Angeles.

Difficulty
The majority of this trail consists of shallow sand and careful navigation around desert vegetation, requiring a bit of attention to avoid vehicle damage. However, a few challenging sections feature over a foot of deep sand, as well as steep climbs out of arroyos that can test your driving skills. In these areas, it's essential to have properly aired-down tires, a capable four-wheel-drive vehicle, and some experience handling soft sand. Traveling with a second vehicle for added safety is highly recommended. Outside of these spots, the trail is relatively straightforward under dry conditions.
