Trail Overview

This trail begins off the El Arco route, winding toward distant red mesas across a mostly smooth surface of light sand, approximately an inch deep. The sandy terrain minimizes washboards and bumps, though occasional rocky sections add some texture. The trail gently dips and rises 5 to 10 feet as it traverses small arroyos, weaving through thick desert vegetation of various sizes. Wildlife sightings, such as coyotes at dawn or dusk and deer, are common in the area. About four miles in, you'll find expansive gravel clearings on either side of the trail, ideal for group camping trips. The route culminates at Four Corners, where a left turn leads back to the El Arco route, while a right turn or heading straight offers access to unexplored, unmapped terrain.
