Trail Overview
Starting near San Vicente on Highway 1, this route weaves through several ranches and scenic canyons before reaching the coast and heading south toward Punta Colonet. Although much of the road is well-maintained and offers a pleasant, meandering drive, its history as a race route means you'll encounter sections that are rough and chewed up. Rain ruts have claimed parts of the road in places, requiring extra attention. Steep, rocky segments also demand careful tire placement to avoid damage. While not technically challenging, airing down your tires significantly enhances ride comfort. Toward the end, if the weather is clear, you'll be rewarded with stunning coastal views as you descend to the coastal route.
Difficulty
Be sure to air down and exercise caution to avoid cutting a tire, as roads that have served as race routes often expose sharp, embedded rocks that can cause damage. Despite these potential hazards, this route is generally smoother than other nearby trails.
